Pre- Korean war
During WWII Korea was controlled by the Japanese, a communist country that invaded Korea in 1911. Japan eventually surrendered after America, allies with South Korea dropped an atomic bomb on Nagasaki in 1945. The requested an armistice, so the Americans developed the 38th parallel which controlled how much of Korea Japan occupied. The 38th parallel is a circle of latitude that is thirty eight degrees north of the Earth's equator. Which also happens to be right in the middle of Korea. The Japanese, some what allied with the Soviets at the time. Were eventually overruled by the Soviets in Korea. Then the Soviets became a large ally of North Korean along with the Chinese.
BAckground information on the Korean war
The war started on the morning of June 25,1950 with an unexpected attack from the North Koreans on the South. The plan for the North Koreans, with support from their allies the Soviet Union and China was to take over South Korea, which had not been receiving support from the Americans for that year. And also to continue the spread of communism throughout the world. The North Korean army was moving fast into South Korea hitting the South Korean troops hard. Within a short period of time the North Koreans were at a big advantage. News of this terror and destruction found its way to the United Nations who took police action against the North Koreans. This caused immediate action from America. In mid September 1950, with the end of war in sight and the South Koreans troops along with American and United Nation forces moving through North Korea an unexpected arrival came. The Chinese and Soviet Union came into North Korea and pushed the South Koreans and their allies back into South Korea. Then in mid 1951 peace treaty talks between the two were going on. Although there were some speculations of a peace treaty this caused more frustration and it took two whole years to figure out. Then on July 27, 1953 the negotiations between the North and South somewhat concluded the fighting in Korea.
